Ahmad Nizar Hamzeh: In The Path Of Hizbullah
One of the best books on Hizbullah (*****)
Fawaz A. Gerges: The Far Enemy : Why Jihad Went Global
Good background information on al-Qaeda and why the Islamists globalized their Jihad (****)
Robert Fisk: Pity the Nation: The Abduction of Lebanon
Lebanon's war as witnessed by Beirut-based Robert Fisk. Must read. (****)
Thomas L. Friedman: From Beirut to Jerusalem
Friedman's first and possibly last great book (****)
Moojan Momen: An Introduction to Shi`i Islam : The History and Doctrines of Twelver Shi`ism
Excellent introduction to twelver Shia Islam. (*****)
G. R. Hawting: The Idea of Idolatry and the Emergence of Islam : From Polemic to History (Cambridge Studies in Islamic Civilization)
The Origins of Islam revisited: Islam arose out of conflict with other monotheists. (****)
Alan Moore: V for Vendetta
"Authority, when first detecting chaos at its heels, will entertain the vilest schemes to save its orderly facade... But always order without justice, without love or liberty, which cannot long postpone their world's descent to pandemonium..." (*****)
Alan Moore: Watchmen
Another masterpiece by Alan Moore
Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Director): Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulin
Amelie sets out on a mission to make others happy. But what about herself? A must see. (*****)
Lila Says
Ziad Doueiri's best film to date. A coming-of-age tale centers on a Lolita-esque French teen who is a big tease to a shy Arab kid. (****)
The Lord of the Rings - The Motion Picture Trilogy (Special Extended DVD Edition)
Possibly the best films ever. (*****)
Anyone see today's Hizballah reaction to both Jumblatt's comments and to that ridiculous rumor of an American base in Lebanon?
Here's what I wanna know:
1. As a "private" militia. Who gave Hizballah the right to decide what is considered an occupation force and what isn't? (talking about the alleged American base).
2. Even if the Americans were to have a base in Lebanon (which is highly highly doubtful). How is this any different from the various Syrian, Iranian, PFLP-FC, etc. bases in Lebanon? Why does Hezballah not treat those as "forces of occupation"?
Yet again, these guys prove to any rational person (Lover excluded) that they exercise complete double standards in their statements. They talk about Lebanese sovereignty and protecting it from Israel and the Americans, but don't seem to mind various other factions (Syrians, Fath Al Islam, Palestinians and Iranians) infringing on our sovereignty.

AKH! i can just hear the fetid crown of hizbteezee supporters now....Another israeli conspiracy supported by the american agenda intended to make our dear beloved leader Hassan Nassrallah look bad!
Now, if it was al manar doing this it would be a work of art inspired by allah.
Either way once the genie gets out of the bottle there will be hell to get him back in.

Point of law; if there is a 3orf against representing the likeness of prophets in images, does it apply to false prophets?
