Listed below are links to weblogs that reference To "explode" one's self Syrian style:

» Lebanese paper: Syria to kill 36 Lebanese politicians from Michael J. Totten
By Abu Kais The story of a Syrian suicide bomber blowing himself up at a border crossing was not the only bizarre story reported by the media yesterday. Another story was that of a new Palestinian faction breaking away from... [Read More]

I suppose both today's posts are the proof and example of the rise, the Renaissance of neo Islamism ; I avoid to use the term "Jihad" coz there's a difference between the Shi'i interpretation of Jihad, and the Sunni one.

Look at Bahrain.
They went to vote earlier in this week ; there were plenty of "reformist" parties, women candidates, good people to vote for to promote civil matters.
But who won? ...Islamists of course (Shi'i and Sunni).
You can't say about Bahrainis that they are poor or uneducated.

Background:

Beirut & Damascus- The Syrian interior ministry said Tuesday that the military chief of Tawhid and Jihad, Omar Hamra detonated his explosives on the Syrian-Lebanese border, killing himself and injuring two Syrian security officers.

The 28-year-old leader was trying to enter Lebanon at the Jdeidet Yabous border post with fake documents, a Syrian Interior Ministry statement said.

The statement said he opened fire on security forces and tried to escape.

After a chase, the man detonated an explosive belt, killing himself and wounding the two Syrian security officers.

The crossing is about a seven-minute drive from the Lebanese border point of Masnaa on the highway linking the Lebanese capital Beirut with Syria's capital, Damascus.

Tawhid and Jihad linked to Al-Qaeda

The official name of the organization is Jama'at Al-Tawhid wa Al-Jihad. According to Global security .com web site this organization released a statement claiming it had officially joined the Al-Qaeda terrorist network, Al-Arabiyah television reported on 20 October 2004.
The organization was led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi . Al-Zarqawi was born in Jordan . He led the insurgents in Iraq and pledged allegiance to Osama Bin Laden. He was killed by the US and Iraqi forces on June 7, 2006.

Al Qaeda has joined the calls of Lebanon’s opposition to force the government of PM Fouad Siniora to resign. Obviously Omar Hamra was not traveling to Lebanon as a tourist…he was heading there for trouble. The big question is : why would Damascus allow such people to move freely within Syria ?

if you check the comments section in Alarabiya's coverage, you'll see that nobody is buying the story.

This is Bashar's (not so) secret 4-step plan:

1)kill a lebanese official to spread fear and chaos in Lebanon

2) wait for the US, UN, EU, Arab effing League to condemn, while a couple point the finger at Syria

3) Kill some wanna-be-terrorist schmuck or guys "attacking" some embassy In Damascus to show you are on the good side of the war on terror.

4)Go back to step one.

I feel I've entered the Twilight Zone. Would it be fair to say that most people who read this blog are closer to the Beltway than to Beirut?
